Lexile Levels for Reader & Text Measure
Nonfiction Lexile data is available for all students at New Vision Charter High Schools, which is captured from the Performance Series reading screener. This Lexile data is used by schools to determine diagnostic testing and intervention programming; Lexiles are also used by all teachers to provide appropriate reading supports and accessibility to all students.
A few notes about Lexiles:
A reader's Lexile is a numeral indicating a student's broad reading ability. Lexiles range from 0-2000.
A text's Lexile is a numeral indicating a text's complexity. Independent texts should range from 100 Lexiles below - 50 Lexiles above a reader's Lexile.
A Lexile level in tier 3, 0L - 780L, indicates extensive gaps in phonics or comprehension. A diagnostic assessment should be administered to ensure appropriate placement into an intervention program.
